Katy Juneau

Viola

Joined the orchestra: 1987

Katy Juneau is Principal Viola of the Fremont Symphony, Lamplighter’s Theatre Orchestra and West Edge Opera Festival. Katy has enjoyed playing with California Symphony since 1987. She also performs with the Modesto, Oakland, Santa Rosa, and Marin Symphonies, and the Sacramento Philharmonic. Katy’s most exciting and challenging passion project these days is being a member of the FSQ (Fremont Symphony & Quartet) string quartet, which in 2018 won a Zellerbach Family Foundation grant for their “Lost Voices” program. Katy has fun playing a variety of musical genres and has been in backup groups and small chamber ensembles accompanying all sorts from Peidmont Community Church, KISS, Bonnie Raitt, CCMT, Synchronicity Strings, Kevin Spacey, Storm Large, and Josh Groban to playing in the World Classic Baseball Orchestra on the field at AT&T Park. Katy graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

Ms. Juneau loves the variety and challenge of her work, believing music changes the way we think and feel on a fundamental level and that music is the world’s universal language.

Hidden talent

I love to mosaic: the yard, the back splash in my kitchen, the bathroom floor…if it doesn’t move, it gets ‘mosaiced’.  Also, my hidden talent is my tomato sauce. I have a secret recipe.
