Rossmoor California Symphony Society Meeting

Members of the Rossmoor California Symphony Soceity

Stanley Dollar Clubhouse, Stanley Dollar Drive in Rossmoor

Open to Rossmoor California Symphony Society members. Members are Rossmoor residents and a limited number of non-residents are allowed to join.

The first meeting of the 2019/2020 season of the California Symphony Society is on the theme of “Iconic Beethoven,” which is also the title of the first concert of the California Symphony’s 2019/20 season at the Lesher Center in Walnut Creek on Saturday Sept. 14 and Sunday Sept. 15. The event will begin with wine and light snacks.

Special guest for the evening is San Francisco Conservatory of Music faculty member and award-winning speaker and lecturer Scott Foglesong. Scott also led the Symphony’s recent Fresh Look—The Symphony Exposed adult education classes at Walnut Creek Library.

Scott’s presentation will explore the life and works of Beethoven, who redefined and elevated the symphonic form and who left a legacy of some of the best-known and well loved music ever written—despite losing his hearing at a relatively early age. The session will include music musical clips and insights about the instantly recognizable Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, which is featured on the season opener concerts.

All members of the Rossmoor California Symphony Society are welcome, along with any new guests that would like to join. Please bring your check or cash to renew your membership, which is $20 for one year. For more information, contact the office at 925.280.2490 or info@californiasymphony.org.
