Anne Ranzani

A Southern-California native, Anne Ranzani has been fortunate enough to grow her career right where she was planted. Anne is a Los Angeles based bassoonist, though her freelance career takes her across the state of California. She is currently the principal bassoonist in the California Symphony, Long Beach Symphony, and Monterey Symphony, and has performed regularly with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Diego Symphony, Pacific Symphony, Los Angeles Opera, Las Vegas Philharmonic and New World Symphony. Beyond orchestral music, Anne can be heard on various film, television, album, and video game productions.

A passionate educator, Anne holds a position as bassoon professor at California State University Fullerton. She maintains a thriving bassoon studio, in which she encourages her students in their pursuits both within and outside of music.

Anne received her education at the University of Southern California Flora L. Thornton School of Music. She received her Bachelor of Music (2019) and Master of Music (2021) degrees under the tutelage of former Los Angeles Opera bassoonist Judith Farmer, and received her Graduate Certificate (2023) mentored by former Los Angeles Philharmonic bassoonist Shawn Mouser.

Alongside her musical pursuits, Anne wholeheartedly embraces personal passions. In her time away from the bassoon, she loves to curl up with a good fantasy novel and her cat Rosemary, or cooking a new recipe with her husband.
