Fresh Look: The Symphony Exposed

NEW Adult Education Classes at Walnut Creek Library

What does the conductor do besides wave the baton?

What is a clarinetist and where do they sit in the orchestra?

Why do the violins sit half on the left and half on the right? (Except when they don't..?)

Attendees of the inaugural 4-week course found answers to these questions and more in Fresh Look: The Symphony Exposed, a fun and stimulating journey through classical music with instructor Scott Foglesong (Chair of Musicianship and Music Theory at San Francisco Conservatory of Music). Offered in the summer of 2018 in English and with live Spanish translation, this introductory course for adults aimed to unlock mysteries and insider secrets to enhance enjoyment of all kinds of orchestra music.

The pilot series in 2018 was oversubscribed. To be notified of future course offerings, please leave your information using the form below.

This program is supported by a generous grant from the American Orchestras' Futures Fund, a program of the League of American Orchestras made possible by Ann & Gordon Getty Foundation.

Hosted by the Walnut Creek Library Foundation.
