Portrait of Patty Drury

A circuitous route of performing and teaching jobs (in Connecticut, Puerto Rico, Georgia, and Wyoming), youthful ambition, and a heavy dose of wanderlust brought Patty to California from her native Ohio. Never questioning music as her profession, Patty has taught strings and orchestra to all ages and has performed with numerous orchestras and chamber ensembles. Patty received her music Bachelors and Masters degrees from Miami University and the Hartt School of Music, respectively. Her post-graduate violin study was with Ariana Bronne of the Manhattan School of Music. Currently Patty is the Orchestra Director at Dougherty Valley High School and Windemere Ranch Middle School in San Ramon, where she instructs and inspires nearly 300 string orchestra students daily. She is also active as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator. Additionally, Patty and her students have become involved with the California Symphony’s Sound Minds education program, providing mentorship to the elementary students enrolled. In addition to performing with the California Symphony, Ms. Drury also performs with various “Freeway Philharmonic” orchestras in the Bay Area.
