Leslie Meeks

Cello

Joined the orchestra: 1998

I studied cello with Margaret Rowell and Bonnie Hampton at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, as well as with Paul Katz at the Eastman School of Music and was a private student of Michael Grebanier in San Francisco for two years. Later on I studied privately with David Kadarauch. From 1985-1987 I was a member of the cello section with the SABC (South African Broadcasting Corporation) Orchestra in Johannesburg. Then, from 1988-1998 I was the principal cellist with the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra in South Africa. After that, 1998-2018, I became a freelance cellist with many regional orchestras back in the U.S. including the CA Symphony.
