Music in the Schools
Each year, up to 3,500 students experience our Music in the Schools (MIS) program, where four ensembles visit participating schools throughout the year, each visit showcasing a different instrument group found in the orchestra: strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. Age appropriate student workbooks designed for 1st through 5th graders are included with the program for teachers to supplement learning in the classroom.
Since its launch in 1992, more than 75,000 school children in Contra Costa County have had the experience of learning about music and music making through these fun and interactive performances.
