
California Symphony's Music-in-the-Schools Program
The California Symphony's Music-in-the-Schools (MIS) program is a comprehensive and interactive music education program. Each participating school receives:
| 3 different Assembly days (performing 3-4 presentations on each assembly day) for Kindergarten and first grade classes between October and April. Two musicians will present the families of the orchestra: strings, woodwinds/brass and percussion. More Information |
| 4 different Assembly days (performing 2-3 presentations eon ach assembly day) for second through fifth grade classes between October and April. The presentations include a string quartet, a brass quintet, a woodwind quintet and Supercussion. More Information |

Study guides for both the Kindergarten and first grade level (also available in English/Spanish) and the second through 5th grade levels to help prepare or follow-up each assembly.

The California Symphony is serving more than 3,500 Contra Costa County school children through Music-in-the-Schools in 2008-2009. There will be 70 site visits with up to 170 presentations. Since it began in 1992, the program has introduced the orchestra to nearly 55,000 students in 75 schools.
